Manuel de la Torre. Here are just a few highlights from his 60+ year career in golf:
- Manuel finished second in the 1942 National Intercollegiate Championship.
- He graduated from Northwestern University in 1947 with a degree in Business Administration.
- He finished in 3rd place at the Tucson Open in 1950 and 2nd place at the Lakewood Open in 1951 on the PGA Tour.
- He was named the Head Golf Professional at Milwaukee Country Club in 1951.
- He was a five-time Wisconsin State Open Champion.
- He finished in 17th place in the 1963 PGA Championship.
- He won the 1973 National Open Seniors Classic.
- He tied for 1st place in the National PGA Senior Championship in 1978 and lost in a playoff.
- He was the very first recipient of the National PGA
- Teacher of the Year Award in 1986.
- He was inducted into the World Golf Teachers Hall of Fame in 2005.
- He was inducted into the PGA of America Hall of Fame in 2006.
- Manuel's notable students have included Carol Mann, Martha Nause, Sheri Steinhauer and Tommy Aaron.
